Abdalftah Hamed Ali is an independent researcher working at the intersection of climate, energy, governance, and security in the Middle East and Africa. his research focuses on energy transition pathways, decarbonization, and the political economy of energy in fragile and conflict-affected states, with particular attention to Sudan and Gulf–Africa linkages.

He was a Visiting Junior Fellow at the Middle East Council on Global Affairs, where he worked on the climate–energy–security nexus and the geopolitical implications of energy transitions across the Middle East, and Africa.
His analysis and commentary have appeared in Aljazeera, TRT World, Amwaj Media, and Afkār. He has co-authored peer-reviewed articles and book chapters published in prestige journals such as Energy Strategy Reviews, Sustainable Futures, International Transactions on Electrical Energy Systems, as well as policy research with the Economic Research Forum (ERF).
He holds two master’s degrees: an MSc in Electrical Engineering (Renewable Energy Systems) from Eskişehir Osmangazi University in Turkey, and an MA in Public Policy with a focus on energy policy and sustainable development from the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies in Qatar
