The new diasporas that have resulted from the region’s current conflicts and developments are not just a source for remittances. They are political actors who monitor and interact with developments in their home countries. Their efforts can be leveraged to contribute to peacebuilding, reconstruction and reconciliation, and transitional justice processes back home.
