During the COVID-19 pandemic, the fragility of social protection systems in the MENA region was exposed, revealing the interconnectedness of various issues that ARI is focused on. We conducted extensive research and analysis, exploring the wide-ranging consequences of the crisis, including its adverse impact on public health systems.

Through rigorous examination of the socio-economic implications, we shed light on the disparities and challenges faced by vulnerable communities. We emphasized the intricate interplay between the pandemic, economic livelihoods, and social well-being.

By generating valuable insights, we aimed to inform policymakers, stakeholders, and the public about the urgent necessity for robust social protection systems, strengthened governance structures, and resilient healthcare systems.

Even as the acute phase of the pandemic has subsided, the Arab Reform Initiative remains dedicated to addressing the long-term repercussions on the MENA region. Their ongoing research and policy recommendations continue to focus on fostering inclusive recovery strategies that prioritize the needs of the most marginalized, strengthen social safety nets, and promote effective governance practices.
