Across the MENA region, conflicts have devastated cities, leaving behind not just physical ruins but also deep social and environmental scars. From polluted air and destroyed green spaces to the dismantling of public transport, the aftershocks of war persist long after the fighting ends.
This webinar will explore how post-conflict reconstruction can prioritize environmental sustainability and climate adaptation — rather than defaulting to narrow, infrastructure-only approaches. Topics will include:
- Climate adaptation and resilient urban planning
- Waste and rubble management
- The return of displaced populations
- Participatory governance and community-driven approaches to reconstruction
- Preventing the capture of reconstruction efforts by corrupt interests
