Dr. Ahmed Haj Asaad is a senior researcher specializing in water issues. His research and projects focus on the geopolitical and socio-economic dimensions of water resource management, its impact on development pathways, and its role in fostering political and social stability as well as opportunities for peacebuilding. His work explores how water can be used either as a tool for political and military dominance or as a means of cooperation and justice, both at the national level and within transboundary river basins.

He holds a PhD from the University of Lausanne in Switzerland and currently is the Director of Geo Expertise. Dr. Haj Asaad has worked as a consultant for several prestigious academic and research institutions, including the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva (IHEID), the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), and King Saud University (KSU) in Saudi Arabia.

He has extensive field experience in Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and the Sahel region of Africa. He has led numerous field projects focused on water governance and conflict transformation, and has published analytical studies aimed at rethinking water policies to ensure environmental justice and equitable resource sharing among riparian countries.
